The National Institutes of Health (NIH) announced: NOT-OD-26-079: Announcement of Upcoming System Enforcement of Common Forms and End of NIHs Leniency Period that goes into effect on May 7, 2026.

Changes For NIH Biographical Sketches and Current and Pending (Other) Support:

Applicable to 1.) proposal submissions, 2.) Just-In-Time (JIT), 3.) Research Performance, 4.) Progress Report (RPPR), and 5.) Prior Approval requests.

NIH will end the leniency period for Common Forms on May 7, 2026.

Beginning May 8, 2026, non-compliant Biosketch and Current & Pending (Other) Support forms will cause submission-blocking errors.

What PIs Must Do:

•              Use SciENcv-generated Common Forms only

•              Ensure ORCID is linked to eRA Commons

•              Regenerate forms if certified before April 22, 2026 to include the research security training certification

After May 8, non-compliant submissions will not be accepted.
