After over 35 years of service at Penn State, Sherry Yocum has retired as administrative director at SSRI.
A retirement party was held in her honor last week, where co-workers recognized her dedication to Penn State and wished her well in her retirement. Several unit directors and co-workers expressed their thanks to Sherry for all the help she provided over the years.
Sherry spent the last 27 years of her career within SSRI/PRI, and served in a leadership role in SSRI for almost 20 years. “Her impact on SSRI is immense in that she literally developed its entire administrative structure, supervised all administrative and financial staff, and was the go-to person for us all,” said SSRI Director Susan McHale.
Beyond her role at SSRI, Sherry also had an impact on the university as a whole. She was a member of Penn State’s ACOR Executive Committee for nine years and has twice served as an instructor in the ACOR Certification and Education Series (ACES). On a national level, Sherry has been a member of the Society of Research Administrators since 1993 and the NICHD’s Population Research Center Administrators group.
