Penn State requires that our faculty and graduate students register with the Global Safety Network so that that the University can assist international travelers in the event that they find themselves in an emergency situation abroad (e.g., a military attack or natural disaster) or — if they are planning to travel to a high-risk location — supply them with comprehensive safety information. This system doesn't work if we do not know where our faculty and students are traveling.
Please communicate to your colleagues and graduate students that registering international travel with the Global Safety Network before traveling is critical for their safety, primarily, but it also is also an important step for being reimbursed on University-related expenses abroad. Failing to register with the University's Global Safety Network affects the ability of our faculty and graduate students to be reimbursed for conference and other research-related expenses.
