How Penn State faculty members and researchers can engage in policy as experts will be the focus of a meeting hosted by the Institutes of Energy and the Environment with the Office of Government and Community Relations at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 28, in 233 HUB-Robeson Center.
This meeting is a rescheduled event for the original Nov. 27 meeting, which was canceled due to illness. Registration for the meeting is requested. Those who registered for the Nov. 27 meeting are asked to register again.
Amanda Wintersteen, director of federal relations, and Michael Stefan, director of state relations, will lead the meeting and answer questions. Additionally, they will discuss Government and Community Relations’ presence at the federal, state and local levels of government.
The meeting is open to University faculty and staff.
“Understanding how the Office of Government and Community Relations helps faculty interface with policymakers can be extremely helpful,” said Lara Fowler, assistant director of IEE and senior lecturer for Penn State Law. “Penn State receives the majority of its funding from different agencies and departments, but more importantly, serving as an expert to inform policy can shine a light on how Penn State is positively impacting communities throughout the nation.”
The primary goal of the University's Office of Government and Community Relations is to enable positive interactions and communications between Penn State and all government agencies in order to further the University's mission of teaching, research and service to the Commonwealth.
