PRI Brown Bag Lecture Series Dr. Jason De Leon, Professor of Anthropology and Chicana/o Studies and Director of the Cotsen Institute of Archaeology, University of California, Los Angeles. September 17, 2024 - 12:00pm-1pm EST Register in advance for in-person or Zoom: https://psu.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_nHU64HHJQ022fHxQ-wWzTQ "Uncovering Stories at the U.S.-Mexico Border" Join Penn State Alumnus anthropologist Jason De Leon, to hear about his work studying the migration of clandestine migrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border. Jason is a professor of anthropology and Chicana/o studies and director of the Cotsen Institute of Archaeology at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is also executive director of the Undocumented Migration Project, raising awareness about migration issues globally while also assisting families of missing migrants in reuniting with their loved ones. Jason is the author of the award-winning book The Land of Open Graves: Living and Dying on the Migrant Trail (featuring photos by Michael Wells). His new book, Soldiers and Kings, is an in-depth look at the daily lives of smugglers moving migrants across Mexico. He is also a 2017 MacArthur Foundation Fellow. |
