Description |
The Department of Humanities at Penn State College of Medicine, with support from the Penn State Center for Socially Responsible AI, invites Penn State faculty members from all campuses to attend a day-long retreat on humanities and arts approaches to artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare. One purpose of the event is to create a Penn State Research Network for faculty in the arts and humanities who are interested in pursuing research in artificial intelligence and health. Another purpose is to generate questions about AI, as well as ideas about research projects that address AI implementation in medicine from the perspective of the humanities and arts. We are tentatively calling the research network AiHA, for Artificial Intelligence in the Humanities and Arts. We can accommodate 25 external participants. We have limited funds to provide one night’s stay at a local hotel for out-of-area participants. If you are interested in attending, please email Bernice Hausman, Chair, Department of Humanities, Penn State College of Medicine, bhausman1@pennstatehealth.psu.edu. In your email, please include a paragraph describing your interest in this topic, your background and research experience, your experience with AI (either through research or teaching), and any specific goals you have for attending the retreat. Please also indicate if you would need local lodging for the night of May 9. |
